Last week, we were excited to share the Indie Author Training summits coming later this year. (You can view the full list and sign up to be notified when registration opens here: https://indieauthortraining.com/#summit-season!)
This week, we’re kicking things off in earnest with the announcement of the first of these summits: the Wide for the Win Summit, taking place October 9 and 10, with Wide for the Win’s Bradley Charbonneau and Chelle Honiker at the helm.
As with all our summits, the first day of the two-day event will be free to attend and explore the foundations of publishing wide—what the strategy looks like today, how authors can benefit from it, and insights and thoughts from industry leaders on making wide work for your business. The second day will include paid workshops, tools, and resources so you can set up wide publishing strategies for your business with guidance from experts—without having to take extra time to implement what you’ve learned once the event is over.
Speakers for the summit are still being chosen, but you can view the current schedule and register for the event at https://summits.indieauthortraining.com/wide-for-the-win-summit. We hope you’ll join us in October!

More Indie Publishing News
Here’s a look beyond our pages at the latest headlines and happenings in the publishing world.
- Kobo Writing Life announced earlier today that the platform will now support asset-less preorders, meaning authors using the platform can set up a preorder without the need for a placeholder or finished ebook or audiobook file. Kobo Writing Life shared the announcement on its blog, along with additional tips for setting up and marketing a preorder: https://www.kobo.com/kobo-writing-life/blog/kobo-writing-life-now-offers-asset-less-pre-orders.
- Earlier this week, publishing company Lulu launched a feature for authors interested in selling their print books directly through the platform. Lulu’s “direct buy” button provides authors a link to a direct checkout page for their print books, without the need to set up a separate e-commerce platform like Shopify or WooCommerce to process the sales. The link can be embedded in a website, though it is also shareable via newsletters, social media, and as a QR code for authors who don’t yet have a dedicated storefront. Authors interested can learn more at https://blog.lulu.com/lulus-new-direct-buy-button.
